About the project
The Incredible Edible plot at Whitefield Community Fire Station is a small plot consisting of two beds. The smallest is a herb bed where several culinary herbs, including rosemary, parsley, chives, mint etc. are grown for community use.
In the second bed a variety of fruit and vegetables have been grown in the past, but more recently we have moved towards exclusively growing soft fruit, strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, etc. Again, for anyone in the local community to pick and enjoy.
With more volunteers there is room at the fire station to increase the number of beds on site. We liaise with the Fire Service on what we grow in the beds.
Everyone is welcome; no experience is necessary. During the growing season, sessions take place either on a Sunday morning 11am-12pm and/or a midweek evening between 6:30pm – 7:30pm.
