A seed swap hosted by the Cloud Gardener

You probably won’t know Jason Williams, but you might know him as the Cloud Gardener. Jason moved into an 18th floor flat in Manchester just before lockdown and subsequently struggled with his mental health. However, he quickly noticed that caring for plants had a positive effect, which led to him growing more and more. Eventually, he developed his balcony into a wonderful green space, using social media to generate lots of interest throughout the world.

He’s now a popular influencer and media personality spreading his message far and wide. A few days ago, he held a houseplant and seed swap event and Debbie and Rachel, from Incredible Edible Prestwich, were there to take part. They met some lovely people and lots of gardening ideas were shared. At the end, they came home with lots of wildflower seeds for the forest garden in Prestwich Clough.

Rachel said, “It was a wonderful event bringing people together over a plant swap and a brew! It was lovely to see beginners getting advice and going away enthusiastically to try out new ideas.”

This was his first Houseplant & Seed Swap event of 2023, supported by RHS Community Gardening   & Jacksons Boat in Sale for the venue. More are sessions planned throughout the year. Check here.

Incredible Edible Prestwich is also holding a seed swap supported by the RHS. It’s at The Barn, Philips Park, Prestwich on April 1st and is from 11am to 1pm. Look out for more details on our What’s On page.
