Incredible Edible Prestwich’s first project—the three vegetable beds in St Mary’s Park—is coming to an end
Bury Council gave us the go-ahead in 2010 to grow food in St Mary’s Park. After some preparation, we planted our first seedlings in the spring of 2011. Since then, our volunteers have loved growing and harvesting herbs and vegetables, and we’ve enjoyed the positive feedback from park visitors.
Now, the timber beds have reached the end of their life, and along with factors such as no direct water supply, we have decided to decommission the project this autumn.
However, the veg beds remain open for renovation and food growing by another community group. If your organisation can take it over, then please email Andrew at: iepad.volunteers@gmail.com
New beginnings? – Incredible Edible are also looking for a new, highly visible site in central Prestwich with easy access to water. This will ensure the community can continue to pick and enjoy fresh herbs, salad leaves, and vegetables.
