Making Wood Work for the Community: Treestation’s impact in Greater Manchester

Treestation is more than just a timber company – it’s a community-driven enterprise dedicated to sustainability and benefiting the people of Greater Manchester. Through our Community Benefit Scheme, they donate timber resources to schools, community landscaping, and food-growing initiatives, ensuring that projects in places like Bury thrive with support and materials.

They pride themselves on having supplied countless local projects over the years, especially by providing essential forest school resources to local schools. While we offer free or discounted timber, to cover basic costs we charge a small delivery fee from our Gorton yard and a modest administration fee.

Their current offer includes the popular Forest School Pack – 10 to 15 logs for sitting or jumping on, plus woodchip for paths or mulch, all for just £84 (including VAT and delivery). For larger needs, they supply loose woodchip (around 1 tonne or an 8ft van load) for £66, delivered to your site. For a smooth delivery, we require a hardstanding area and enough space for an 8ft vehicle to turn around.

All their timber is sourced from tree work carried out by Treestation and other local companies. After each delivery, they’ll be in touch for feedback, which helps keep our funders and shareholders involved and maintains their support.

Other activities include a range of services, from supplying high-quality biomass woodchip, seasoned firewood, and bespoke timber products, to professional tree work, landscaping, woodland management, plant hire, and site clearance. They’re driven by strong values and a mission to “make wood work” both our people and our planet.
